The North-West University (NWU) Symphony Orchestra amazed the audience with their performance at the Sanlam Auditorium on Saturday evening, 6 May. The concert hall was packed with people who came to hear the heavenly melodies of the musical instruments.
The theme was “enchanted”, and it took the audience back in time by performing various cartoonish songs. Many of these songs came from well-known animations from the early 2000’s.
Tsêpang Nnena Bereng, a member of the audience and a student at the NWU Potchefstroom campus said, “I had a fun time watching the orchestra perform, and the conductor made it easier for us as the audience to understand. He thoughtfully explained the meaning of each song’s music composition.”
Boitumelo Modimokwane, a final-year student, also attended the event and expressed her joy at seeing the orchestra perform. “I’ve always wanted to see a group of musical instruments playing together, and my dream came true. Everything was just perfect, especially when they played the Aladdin songs,” she said.
Not only was the audience satisfied with the performance, but members of the orchestra as well. “It was a great privilege to perform at the event, and heart-warming to see a full house of supporters appreciating our efforts,” said Elouise Verwey, one of the orchestra’s violinists.
