Of

Hoekom is Big Prims belangrik?

[email protected]) of sy selfoon nommer (083 397 8349) kontak.

BIG PRIMS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

This year, Big Prims will take place in the Amphitheatre (Amphi) between 17 and 19 July. Have you ever wondered
what exactly Big Prims is? Wapad has set out all the important details.

What is Big Prims?

Gregory Davies, treasurer of the Students’ Campus Council, said Big Prims is a project where the Primaria and Primarius of each residence must stay in the Amphi for 48 hours. During this period, individuals may not eat, and they sleep in a structure made of glass that does not have a roof.

Davies also said that the goal of this project is to create awareness about students on campus who have to survive
without food on a daily basis.

Louw Viljoen, this year’s Big Prims organiser and member of the financial portfolio committee, said, “Big Prims is an awareness campaign that reveals the importance of the Prim Fund and Alumni Fund.”

Viljoen said each residence raises money during the year for Big Prims that will contribute to their Prim Fund. This fund assists underprivileged students in various residences.

Why is Big Prims important?

“Every year the need on campus gets bigger, whether it’s food or clothing that people lack, it just gets bigger,” Davies
said.

Davies also said that students need to be more aware of this need and projects like Big Prims. This is so that they will buy into the idea of making a difference, then all students can have a fair chance of graduating.

Viljoen argues that a large number of students are being helped by the Big Prims funds. “Every day I see people who
need the funds but at this point, we can only help so much.

That’s why I think it’s really important to broaden awareness of the project so that we can help even more students,” he said.

How can other students make a contribution?

Davies stated that students can help their House Committee (HC) think of initiatives that will also facilitate the collection of money.

Viljoen said students can contribute to the Prim Fund by participating in residence activities that raise money for Big
Prims.

How do you donate?

Students who wish to do so can make donations to Big Prims by giving a contribution to their Big Prims HC member.

“We would like students to attend the event on 17, 18 and 19 July and come to support their Primarii. As much as Big Prims is an opportunity to raise awareness for students in need, it is also a very nice opportunity for student life and
spirit,” Viljoen continued.

Davies said that if anyone wants to donate, they can contact him at his email address ([email protected]) or his cell phone number (083 397 8349).
