International youth hockey is back in the form of the Allistar Fredericks Africa Challenge 2025!
Youth hockey has been on a hold since 2022, but with the upcoming series, the youth of South Africa and Zimbabwe can show their talent on a national level. Both countries will have four teams representing them, two boys’ teams and two girls’ teams. South Africa will send their U16A and B boys and U16A and U17A girls, while Zimbabwe will send their U16A boys and girls and U18 boys and girls to counter the sides from South Africa.
The tournament will take place on South African soil at St. David’s Marist Inanda in Johannesburg from Tuesday, 12 August to Friday, 15 August. The teams will each play four matches across the period and the tournament will end in a dinner to celebrate the youngsters.
The South African Schools Hockey Committee’s (SASHOC) president, Wendell Domingo, exclaimed his excitement for the tournament and explained how this tournament highlights the hard work put in by the youth and gives them the opportunity to gain experience on a national level.
