LAUGHTER, LYRICS, AND LOTS OF WAPAD TRIVIA

“I had a lot of fun and would really like another night like this.” 

After a long wait, the Wapad Trivia night finally arrived! On Wednesday, 13 August, Wapad hosted a Trivia Night at The Mystic Boer. The venue came alive with multi-coloured lights, laughter and quiz papers flying around.

The night kicked off with Kerkstraat performing popular songs and one of their original songs. The crowd enthusiastically screamed the lyrics along as if their lives depended on it, and hearts beating in rhythm with the drums. Kerkstraat left the crowd wanting more but it was time to start the quiz. 

The Master of Ceremonies (MC) and a comedian, Lokey The Maverick, entered with a bang and a wild applause. He had the crowd in tears with laughter and interacted with the audience all night, although some of the audience didn’t find certain comedic remarks appropriate. The team names were just as entertaining: ‘Pampoen Pitte’, ‘Smartinies’, ‘Hier vir die Vibes’ and ‘The Spice Golds and a Coke’.

The quiz itself? A full- blown brain workout! There was something for everyone, from songs in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, geography, riddles, movies, series, anagrams and even history. The overall event and questions were well planned and kept the teams on their toes throughout the intense four rounds. 

The entertainment didn’t stop between rounds. The Laureus Serenaders had the crowd hanging on their lips, waiting for the next note. The crowd couldn’t believe their ears after the acapella group’s angelic voices blessed their ears. People were still picking up their jaws after the performances.

The winning team was crowned: the Smartinies, who won a few Mystic Boer vouchers and brain food, a well-earned pizza feast. 

“As an audience member, it was overall an amazing experience, and I would like to thank everyone who was a part of the planning. You all should really feel proud of this event.” 

After the success of Wapad’s fundraiser, the crowd can’t wait to see what is next for Wapad.
